Types of Assignments

When planning coverage, there are five types of assignments: Normal, Temporary, New Hire, Transfer, and Replace. These assignments are mapped to their respective productivity profiles.

Normal

"Normal" is the standard coverage assignment, associating a person with a go-to-market hierarchy node through a specific role.

Temporary

"Temporary" assignments indicate a short-term placement until a permanent assignment can be determined. These indicate situations where one of the existing team members is covering for a role temporarily until a new hire is made.

New Hire

"New Hire" assignments indicate the intent of hiring someone into this role in the future.

Transfer

"Transfer" assignments indicate the intent of moving an existing employee into this role at a future date.

Replace

"Replace" assignments intend to assign a particular role to another person.

Using the To be Hired, Transferred, or Replaced Assignments

To Be Hired - TBH

When you are planning your go-to-market strategy, it is almost inevitable that you will be looking to hire staff in the future to fill certain roles. You can represent these hiring plans by adding "New Hire" assignments for a future date.

Once in the system, these new hires can be used for planning, ramp calculations of targets, etc.

To assign a new hire:

  1. Add a new assignment in your territory of choice.
  2. In the name - search for "To Be Hired" and select it.
  3. Select the role that you would like to fill.
  4. Select a future start date and end date.
  5. Select the type as "New Hire".
  6. Click "Save".

To be Replaced - TBR

You can record a planned replacement of an employee by using the "To Be Replaced" option. When in the system, these TBR hires can also be used for planning and recruitment.

To assign a new replacement:

  1. Add a new assignment in your territory of choice.
  2. In the name - search for "To Be Replaced" and select it.
  3. Select the role that you would like to fill.
  4. Select a future start date and end date.
  5. Select the type as "Replace".
  6. Click "Save".

To be Transferred - TBT

Very similar to the TBH and TBR scenarios above, you can record a planned transfer of an individual from one role to another by using the "To Be Transferred" option. When in the system, these TBT hires can also be used for planning, ramp calculations of targets, etc.

To assign a TBT hire:

  1. Add a new assignment in your territory of choice.
  2. In the name - search for "To Be Transferred" and select it.
  3. Select the role you want to fill.
  4. Select a future start date and end date.
  5. Select the type as "Transfer".
  6. Click "Save".
