Viewing data across different metrics is a crucial aspect of planning. The Design Module provides several reporting capabilities to use for this purpose.

Here, you can configure charts and tables according to what you want to see.

Navigating the Chart Builder

The Chart Builder is where you'll be pulling data to create visuals, and has a similar interface for all types of charts. Let's go over the different aspects of the Chart Builder to understand how to best use the functionality in the Design Module:

  1. Chart Icon - This button launches the Chart Builder, and allows you to toggle between views of the Chart and Details Grid in the Design Module.

  2. Types of Reports - The left-hand panel allows you to choose the type of chart or table you'd like to build. Review the types of reports here.

  3. Entities Available - The left-hand panel displays the entities available to drag and drop into the dimension and measure fields of the Chart Builder. Here, you will only see entities pertinent to the designer you're in (e.g., in the Teams designer, you'll only see entities centered around the "People" object).

  4. Configuration Options - The middle section allows you to customize aspects of the selected chart type; including the title, dimensions and measures, limits, and timelines. Learn more about these options and what they mean here.

  5. Chart Action Bar - The action buttons here allow you to plot the chart, reset the configuration options, or close the panel.

Viewing Charts and Reports

Once you've finished building a report, you will see the following view. Below is an example of a GTM Chart. Let's go over all of the actions available in this view.

  1. Main Chart View - The middle section contains the chart you created, with a legend in the top upper right corner. If you rollover the chart with your mouse, you'll be able to see the details of the chart, like any metrics you've applied.

  2. Chart Action Bar - These buttons can be used to perform the following chart actions (going from left to right):

  • Show Tabular View: Displays a tabular view of the data appear below the chart image.
  • Edit the Chart Configuration - Brings up the Chart Builder.
  • Download Chart Image - Exports the chart image as a .png file. Learn more about exporting reports here.
  • Collaboration - Opens the chat feature to collaborate with or send chart images to people assigned at the same hierarchy node.
  • Pin - pins your chart to a Rhythm dashboard.
  1. Time Period Selector- This button allows you to view the data filtered by the time period.


Can't find a time period selector?

The time period selector will only appear if you provided a date field to filter the chart data. If you are missing the time period selector, edit the configuration and add a time date field into the measures section.

  1. Go To Market Hierarchy - The node selected in the hierarchy filters the chart shown in the middle section. When you select different nodes, the chart refreshes to reflect the data constrained by that particular hierarchy node.

  2. Tabular View of the Chart - Below the main chart view, you can view the data represented in the chart as a table. You can also export this data as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the export button on the top right corner of the table.
