SmartPlan - Balance by Field Value
Balance by Field value is chosen when there is a need to have equal territories based on a particular field value. All the parent node's records gets distributed equally among the territories created according to the field value that is set.
- In the Prioritized Balancing criteria section select Balance by Field Value in the Add Criteria.
- A new Balance by Field value section shows up where the territories are balanced by the aggregation of a particular field value. The user has to choose SUM or COUNT in the aggregation field and select a field accordingly.
- For SUM, Hierarchy level, Number of Employees and Annual revenue are the field value that can be selected.
- For Count, all the other fields, except the above mentioned three, can be selected.
- Next, select the Create criteria which opens up a new window called Filter Builder to select your criteria. This is optional for Balancer
- We can either give a single condition or a group of conditions with 'AND' or 'OR' operator.
- Once the criteria is set, select Ok.
- There are two options available for the accounts that do not match the criteria chosen
- Put them in the Unassigned node. (This is default selection)
- Distribute equally among all the territories and selecting this option will distribute the records equally without considering the criteria that is given.
- Select the options for Named Accounts, whether you want to include them in the SmartPlan balancing, or exclude them.
- Select the required option from Treatment of Account Families.
- Decide whether to include or exclude the child accounts in the SmartPlan balancing and select the appropriate option.
- Select Save.
Balance by field value (SUM) - Illustration
In the below illustration, Spain node has a total of 1020 records. The aim is to balance this node into 3 territories with the same sum value of number of employees. The number of employees in Spain is 3 Million approximately. After the application of Balance by field value (SUM) in SmartPlan, three child nodes Spain_1, Spain_2, and Spain_3 are created with approximately 1 million (999768 approx) employees in each node respectively.
Balance by field value (COUNT) - Illustration
In the below illustration, Spain node has a total of 1020 records. The aim is to balance this node into 3 territories with the same count of customer types. The number of records under Prospect Type in Spain is 1 017 and only 3 records under Customer type. After the application of Balance by filed value COUNT on the field TYPE in SmartPlan, three child nodes Spain_1, Spain_2, and Spain_3 are created with 1 Customer type and 339 Prospect type in each node respectively.
